1863 (7 Oct.) envelope from Blenheim "via Marseilles" (deleted subsequent to use) to Stoke-on-Trent, bearing 2d. dull deep blue horizontal strip of three with
clear to very large margins and showing an exceptional vertical overlap at left leaving a 2mm. wide margin, taking off the left frame up to the "n" of "new", twice neatly cancelled and tied by "blenheim/marlborough", the reverse with despatch, Picton (8.10) and arrival (19.12) c.d.s.; the strip lifted to reveal the paper, and hinged
back in place, the envelope a little soiled. A very rare multiple of this stamp, particularly with the vertical overlap, which is believed to be unique on cover. R.P.S. Certificate (2006). Sc. 26a; S.G. 96.
