Red "Recette Principale/Seine/10 Nov. 70" double circle datestamp, bold full strike ties 1867 20c Blue on bluish (Scott #33, Yvert #29B) to 1870 folded letter with "Par
ballon monte" directive to Pont Audemar that was carried on board the Daguerre, no arrival backstamp, fresh and extremely fine.The red "Recette Principale" cachet is a great rarity on Ballons Montes covers and only two examples are
recorded. This important cover is discussed in numerous philatelic publications, including by J. Le Pileur of l'Academie de Philatelie in "Les Aerostats Poste 1870-1871" published in Paris in 1953, by H. Cappart also of l'Academie in Recette
Principale Seine (Doc. phil. no. 127/1991), by J.F. Baudot in "Des Ballons Montes Rarissimes" published in Le Monde des Philatelistes no. 506 in 1999.According the J. Le Pileur, this datestamp is one of the greatest of all Ballons Montes covers.
