108 ogO S.G. #9/321, O1/8, Substantial collection balance to 1946 on Scott pages, includes the 1852 1c and 4c with the usual surface faults, six of the 1853-60 Imperforate Ship stamps including a couple unused, the rare 1856 4c Black on magenta affixed to piece (BPA: genuine, but condition cannot be verified until stamp removed from piece), comprehensive showing of the perforated Ship stamps which are mostly used with a few better mint/unused values, the 1863 Typeset issue is complete including all three 4c values, some better 1878-81 surcharges, the 1888-89 Surcharges are complete mint including both $4.00 values, the 1890 1c on $1.00 Surcharges include three double overprints, from 1898 onward the collection is complete and all mint, plus seven different official stamps, the early issues are in mixed condition as is usual, later issues are mainly fine-very fine; an unusually strong showing from this difficult colony. Est. 2,000-3,000

109 O imageS.G. #24, 1888 "3 cents" surcharge on 3p Chocolate, watermarked Crown and CC, perf. 12 1/2, a used example of this exceptionally rare stamp, whose existence is due to having a single sheet of 60 of the 3p perf. 12 1/2 surcharged among a much larger quantity of the perf. 14 3p values to alleviate a shortage of new currency postage stamps, of the sixty originally surcharged far fewer still exist, this particular example is a little soiled and has a small tear in the left margin, however it is lightly cancelled and fine appearing; 1967 PF and 1995 BPA certificates; ex-Prappas and illustrated in the Robson Lowe Encyclopedia, Vol V on page 674 (Scott #19; $5,250.00).
