tied to large (legal size) airmail cover to Wiesenweg, Germany by "Ship
Mail Room/7 AU 36/Melbourne c.d.s., the 5/- and 2p paying the rate for a
letter weighing 1 to 1 ½ ounces (1/9p for first ½ oz, 1/8p each additional
½ oz), cover with wrinkles and single tear at each end due to the obviously
bulky nature of its original contents, still quite fine; a most attractive
and scarce commercial usage of the 5/- stamp (A$300).

shade was largely destroyed following the new issue of the 10/- Robes

magnificent quality bottom margin John Ash imprint block of four,
with bottom right stamp being the "open-mouthed kangaroo" variety [R55], in
a brilliant state of preservation, outstanding centering for an imprint
block, intensely rich colors on wonderfully fresh paper, immaculate o.g.,
n.h., couple of minor bends in the sheet selvage at bottom, extremely
fine.It is believed that only six imprint blocks of four of the £2
C of A Watermark issue still exist. One of the six is in the R.T.P. Chapman
Collection, which is now part of the Australia Post archival
collection.This stunning block certainly must qualify as one of the
finest available of the five which remain in private hands (for hinged
