The valuable and comprehensive balance of the incomparable collection of
"Kangaroo and Map" postage stamps formed by Arthur W. Gray, a
fascinating assemblage of hundreds of items on approximately 100
exhibition/collection pages, all wonderfully annotated, with all the
various watermark issues well represented and not just with lower values,
as we note several bi-colored high values (to the £2) included, most
of the material is mint, but there are some used items, as well as some
scarce c.t.o. stamps, there is an array of multiples, including some
monogram or imprint pieces (some of which have substantial catalog values,
such as a nice 5/- Third Watermark Ash imprint pair), numerous shade and
plate varieties, and even a few watermark varieties, corresponding "OS"
official stamps are also found throughout, virtually all mint stamps have
o.g., hinging ranges from h.r.'s on some to mostly lightly hinged, and even
several n.h., there is the occasional small fault to some items, but
overall the condition is fine-very fine or better; this is not your
"ordinary" balance, as clearly the Gray collection is not an "ordinary"
collection, so careful inspection of this wonderful lot will prove not only
that this is an extraordinary opportunity, but will also reveal that our
estimate is quite conservative, as we believe the material contained within
the lot must catalog in excess of A$70,000. |
