1841 1p Red Brown, two vertically bisected halves of
two different stamps, used together on a cover dated July 1, 1842 and
positioned next to one another to give the impression of a single stamp in
an effort to defraud the post, sent from London to Worcester, with stamp(s)
tied by black Maltese Cross cancel, the cover was redirected upon arrival
and inscribed "try Broadway", the reverse with London "W/JY-1/1842"
dispatch and Broadway arrival c.d.s., very fine; to our knowledge, this
is the only known example of such an attempted, and successful, fraud from
an imperforate Line Engraved issue; 1997 BPA certificate. (Image) |

1864 1p Rose red and Lake red, imprimaturs, an
extraordinary assemblage of imprimaturs, each being a different plate
number ranging from 71 to 224, in fact this group contains 119 out of 145

that each within this group is a left or right sheet-margin example and
almost all have four margins, most are lettered either BA or BL, some with
light pencil notations in the sheet selvage only, overall very fine; an
assemblage that would be next to impossible to duplicate (S.G. Spec. #G1
