NAPLES COLLECTIONS
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
54 Opc Sassone #1/16 Naples extensive used collection neatly mounted in an album with a total of 400 stamps and collected according to Sassone with all the different shades identified, included are some multiples, mostly pairs, some on piece including several values on one piece and over 27 covers including several with numerous low denominations making up a higher rate, of particular value in this collection for the purpose of reference is that virtually all the stamps have been identified and expertized by Raybaudi, virtually all stamps have been signed and the catalog number noted in pencil on the reverse, plus there are 20 certificates for more important stamps and covers, the vast majority of the stamps are the lower less expensive values, but even there, since a large number of the shades are present, there are quite a number of these that have significant premium value and many are in nice quality as well, of the higher more valuable denominations there are three 20gr and five 50gr values plus three of the 1/2t Blue Cross of Savoy, all of these have certificates and the last two better values all have flaws or small repairs (mainly small filled thins) but attractive appearance, condition is quite varied though the vast majority are of very fine appearance and a great many of the more modest values are truly very fine or better; a valuable collection, not only for the many nice stamps that are present but also for the reference of all the color and plate identification, well worth examining (Scott #1/9; Scott catalog value, which does not list many of the scarcer shades, is well in excess of $50,000.00 and Sassone value for just the used stamps as identified is over €100,000).
