These were used to prepay the express motor fee to the aerodrome on mail for the Pan-American flight to the United States and Europe. Only thirteen stamps were overprinted, of which six are known on cover, one is tied to piece, and this example is one of three mint copies are recorded.A key rarity for a serious Zeppelin collection, as well as being one of the rarest air post stamps in the world. Accompanied by a 1959 Francis J. Field certificate, a 1964 Corinphila certificate, a 1965 Herman Walter Sieger letter of authenticity and a 1980 Arthur Falk certificate; ex-Belinkoff.
