- The fantastic unused block of four of the unissued German

Auction 284 has 3818 lots catering for all types of collectors & dealers -
from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items.
This auction offers a huge range of material, with special emphasis on
lotting stamps to cater for collectors with varying types of interests and
budgets. Items range from $30 to $40,000 so there's something for
everybody. This auction offers strong representation of Australia &
Colonies, strong British Empire material of all areas & periods, as well as
General Foreign including small and large collections. There are almost 300
lots of Australian Collections (LOTS 78-365) and almost 400 lots of World
collections (LOT 366 - 737).
Following on there is almost 1000 lots of Australia which consist of
singles, sets and covers including Australian colonies (LOTS 766 - 1746).
The Australian lots cover all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to
Decimal and contains numerous number of mint & used £1 & £2 top values -
this includes a C of A £2 Grey-black & rose-crimson with left gutter
margin, Superb M, SG 138 (LOT 983). In the pre-decimal era are specialist
items such as monograms, imprints, proofs, varieties & errors. The
specialist section in the Pre - decimal era includes a 1956 Olympics 3½d
UNISSUED DENOMINATION, prepared but never issued due to change of rate to
4d, with same design used for new denomination (Lot 1168) In the Decimal
section the 1972 Rehabilitation 12c Brown & green with error partially
missing green "Australia 12c" on the top 2 stamps of a blk of 10 (2 x 5)
with sheet number at base, also missing colour sl affects the 3 stamps at
middle right with 'c' of 12c partly missing, VF fresh MUH, SG 514 (var),
ACSC 595cc (LOT 1187). There are over 1,900 lots of World stamps, covers
and single country collections (LOTS 1747 - 3818) with the British Empire
well represented, highlighted from British central Africa a 1896 Arms £25
green & black, wmk crown CC, Fresh M, small filled thin in UR cnr, VF
appearance & bright colours, SG 42 (LOT 1864) also a Great Britain
1882-1901 I.R. OFFICIAL opt QV 10/- ultramarine on white paper, Fresh M
(Lot 2545). The European countries include a wide range of collections,
single lots and covers including a France 1924 Olympic Games "VIII
Olympiade Paris" set 10c-50c, as a composite IMPERF presentation sheetlet
"Epreuve Collective", 273x195mm. VF fresh UN as made, in overall excellent
condition for such a large format item, SG 401-04(p), Yv 183-86EC (LOT
2256). There is an excellent small range of China including PRC (LOTS 1976
- 2105) including 1961 Table Tennis M/Sheet. VF fresh UN as issued. SG MS
1971a, Yang C86M (lot 2012) and 1967 Thoughts of Mao 8f set of 2 strips &
single. VF fresh MUH. SG 2343-53, Yang W1, (lot 2076).
