#102, 1917 "Correos /10 Cts./1917' on 1c Blue Cobija provisional surcharge, Ty. I, a well centered example tied to a 1917 cover to Chicago, the stamp has wide balanced
margins and strong colors, neatly tied by "Correos de Bolivia/Cobija/1 Feb. 1917" c.d.s. that all known used examples possess, sent via Brazil with Xapuri (Acre), Brazil transit and one other on the reverse, cover has edge wear at top including small
tear and light aging around the border of the cover which only very slightly affects the stamp; condition factors, which are relatively minor, are rather irrelavent on this cover as this is the only recorded cover bearing the Cobija
Provisional; a great 20th century rarity of Bolivia. (Image) |

#102a, 1917 "Correos /10 Cts./1917' on 1c Blue Cobija provisional surcharge in carmine, Ty. II, the extremely rare variety with san-serif "1"s in "1917", used with a
portion of the black violet cancel of Cobija, no control cancel on the reverse implying that this stamp was probably removed from a cover it had been used on, well centered with deep colors, slightly uneven perforations, otherwise very fine; this
overprint was produced in a setting of ten cliches, this rare variety comes from position 10; with only 1,000 stamps overprinted in total this variety is ten times scarcer with only 100 stamps originally overprinted in this type and certainly less
than that number which have survived; 1987 Alex Rendon certificate. (Image) |

#102a var., 1917 "Correos /10 Cts./1917' on 1c Blue Cobija provisional surcharge in black, Ty. II, a beautifully centered single with wide balanced margins, the stamp has
deep blue color and the surcharge is in an intense black color that is not listed in the catalogs or previously recorded, used with a portion of the proper violet cancel of Cobija and without the control cancel on the reverse implying it was used on
a cover, extremely fine; little is known about this surcharge in black except that the overprint is genuine and it was properly used with the cancel on top of the overprint; this is the only recorded example in black as noted in the accompanying
certificate and a great rarity of this provisional issue; signed A. Rendon and accompanied by by his 1984 certificate. (Image) |

Twentieth century mint and used specialized collection of the issues from the 1901 Famous Men to 1919 Coat of Arms, a very extensive study of these issues which includes a smattering of proofs and trial colors throughout including die proofs
die sunk on card for the 1c 1901 and 50c 1913 Famous Men series, the general pattern of the collection includes mint singles, multiples from blocks of four or larger, extensive used showing numerous types of postal cancels used on each issue, then
whatever varieties are available for the issue, for example the 1909 Centenary of the Revolution has imperforates in pairs or larger, tete-beche pairs, including used strips of three, inverted centers of the three values that are found that way
including perforation varieties of those in multiples, the other definitive issues are collected in a similar fashion were such varieties are found, includes a nice representation of the provisional surcharges and overprints in the 1911 to 1917
period, including three genuine used examples of the 1911 20c on 2c Green and black Ville Belle provisional (#97; all three with various certificates) and two of the rare 1917 10c on 1c Blue Cobija provisional (#102; both with certificates), these
rare provisionals may have small back flaws but they are truly trivial, also includes for all the overprints a selection of forged overprints making this a valuable reference collection as well, all are neatly written up and mounted on exhibition
pages in two deluxe custom albums, fine-very fine throughout; a wonderful collection of these issues with the value found in all the elusive varieties that are seldom encountered to such an extent as is found here; accompanied by five certificates of
various committees. |

Twentieth century substantial and comprehensive postal history collection in five volumes, consists of well over 300 covers and cards attractively written up on pages and housed in four deluxe custom albums, this collection starts with the
1901 Famous Men definitive series with over a full volume devoted to the that issue alone, then each of the other early 20th century issue receives similar treatment up to the 1919-20 Coat of Arms issue with just a few later, includes a nice
selection of the provisional surcharges of 1911-12, many usages of both cards and covers are to Europe with a few to the United States, but there are also proper domestic uses and foreign mail to neighboring South American countries, both of which
sometimes involves the use of bisects which was a normal practice in the Bolivian post offices, lots of cards have lovely views of this culturally rich and fascinating country, we note several of the popular cards from the remote post office of
Estarca which usually feature native peoples in both cosmopolitan and rural jungle settings, covers feature a fair number of registered usages making for some excellent higher value frankings, condition varies but overall selected to show the various
uses of the stamps of this period and most are fine-very fine or better; examination will reveal a wealth of desirable and often elusive material. |

50c Orange semi-official air post stamps, tied by violet "Correos de Bolivia/Cochambia" oval of that date, stamps centered to top, very fine cover; this flight from Cochabamba to Sucre is the scarcest of the three flight destinations of this series
of flights made by the F13 Junkers that was brought to Cochabamba in 1925, this series of flights is considered by Bolivian air mail specialists to be the first authentic first flights of Bolivia, three different overprints were applied to the 50c

1925 Cochabamba first flight by Junkers aircraft specialized collection, when an F18 Junkers plane was brought to Cochabamba in 1925 a series of three flights was scheduled to Sucre, Orur and La Paz, stamps were overprinted in green or red for
each of these destinations, the issuance was small with Sucre being the scarcest as only 400 stamps were issued, 600 were issued for Oruro and 1,000 for La Paz, the increase caused by the growing interest as the flights became known, this well
written up collection on pages shows a wonderful assemblage of the stamps and covers with a nice range of varieties, the scope of which probably has not been seen before, includes 49 mint and used stamps with a scarce mint inverted overprint of
Sucre, two mint and one used inverted overprints of Oruro, more varieties are found with the red La Paz overprints including three mint inverted overprints and two se-tenant pairs, one being an inverted overprint with the normal, the other the rare
variety printed vertically on the stamp, one reading up and one reading down, in addition to the stamps there is also a collection of twelve of the scarce first flight covers to all three destinations including Sucre of which less than a dozed covers
are known, includes return flights from Sucre and Oruro, plus a very rare cover to Oruro with an inverted overprinted on the stamp and an equally rare La Paz cover cover with a double overprint, both of these covers are quite likely the only known
examples of these errors on cover, some reference material is included with bogus covers for the flights to Sucre and Oruro, condition is fresh and attractive, mint stamps have o.g., some will be found n.h., covers are overall attractive and very
fine; an amazing collection of this interesting early air post history of Bolivia and worthy of careful examination |
