R15a |
#R15a, $5.00 Vermilion and violet blue revenue, Denomination Inverted, two attractively centered singles, the right stamp with partial imprint in left margin, tied
to a small piece of a document by straight line "Cancelled" handstamp in deep blue, intense colors, very light gum toning, mild vertical crease in right stamp, still very fine. There are only two recorded items bearing the Five Dollar Revenue with
inverted denomination - this piece and the horizontal pair offered in the Honolulu Advertiser sale. That pair was similarly cancelled and tied to piece (and also has gum toning). With only two items available, this makes for one of the most important
items for collectors of Hawaii, revenue stamps, or inverted centers of the world.A visually striking showpiece and one of the most recognizable errors of Hawaiian philately. Ex-Pietch.
