15a |
#15a, 1920 5M Slate and carmine, both Center and "Danzig" Overprint Inverted, a highly select example of this important German area rarity, marvelously bright and
fresh, gorgeous prooflike colors and impressions on crisp paper, well centered, full clean o.g., lightly hinged, very fine and exceedingly choice.Only one sheet of twenty stamps was ever discovered with both the center and overprint inverted.
Actually, in this instance, technically the frame is inverted, hence both the center vignette and overprint are correctly positioned to one another. Very few stamps from this sheet exist in this outstanding quality and this is the first such example
of this striking and rare error we have ever had the privilege to offer in our auctions.Double signed (as an important rarity) by George Buhler (among others) and accompanied by Buhler's 1979 certificate in which he described this as a
"significant rarity" (Michel #15BKI; €18,000). (Image) |

16c/136a |
#16c/136a, 1871/1915 Coat of Arms, Inverted Frames specialized collection of over 70 items (singles, pairs, blocks and one cover) all with inverted frames, some items
even have inverted watermarks as well, such as a mint example (small flaws) of the 1871 2s Gray and ultramarine, other better items include a mint single of the 1875 4o Slate and blue with inverted frame, scarce printings, plus several impressive
mint blocks (usually blocks of four) with inverted frames, some se-tenant with normal stamps, most of the blocks are from the 1875-79 and 1895-1901 series, o.g. or used, an occasional fault noted, but mostlyl fine-very fine; a marvelous lot for the
specialist that contains several elusive and desirable items (Facit #20 var./49). (Image) |

Facit #20cv/24bv, 1870-74 2s-48s Coat of Arms, Inverted Frames specialized collection of stamps from position 90, an extraordinary selection of fourteen different
