franked with two 2c Columbian vignettes cut out and put into 1c Columbian
frames, creating "bi-colored" Columbians, these were apparently rejected by
postal authorities and returned to sender, with purple "Held for Postage"
and "This letter was mailed without stamp on a postal car" handstamps, a
normal 2c Columbian was then put on and tied by St. Louis, Mar 8, 1893
duplex and delivered to Russell Kansas (backstamp), very fine. (Image) |
