#461, 2c Pale carmine red, horizontal pair with
natural straight-edge at top tied along with 9c Salmon red (#432) by New
York oval registry pmks. on 2c Red entire to Germany, with clear "7-15,
1915 New York, USA/Foreign" double oval pmks on back, along with registry
handstamps and Berlin receiver, fine; this was for many years the earliest
documented usage of #461, but it has recently been replaced by an earlier
cover, however it is still very rare, with less than five #461 covers
certified by the Philatelic Foundation, and being a pair on a
registered foreign usage makes it even more desirable; 1999 PF certificate;
a single #461 catalogs $1,200.00 on cover.
