vertical se-tenant right-margin pair of #1416 and 1418, with plate no.
31907 in margin, Washington, D.C. machine cancel, light creasing which is
immaterial considering this pair's unique status as a plate number pair,
extremely fine; only one other pair has been recorded (a Mail Early
slogan pair with the same postmark), in fact, this is the first time we
have ever offered this error, as even the great William Floyd collection
was missing this; 2001 PF certificate.

selvage, very fine; to date this is the only example of the imperforate
between error recorded, which is listed but not yet priced in Scott;

brown inverted, well centered and fresh, pristine o.g., n.h., very
fine; an especially attractive and choice example of the so-called "C.I.A."
invert, so named as the sole pane of 100 was purchased at the McLean, Va.
post office by employees of the C.I.A. for use on agency mail, noticing the
error, the employees bought a replacement sheet and kept the error for
themselves, when it was revealed who had purchased the stamps a scandal
ensued over ownership; 95 out of the original 100 stamps can be accounted
for, with the other five presumably having been used on mail and none of
