#5A, 1c Blue, Ty. Ib, position 6R1E, an
extraordinarily handsome appearing used example of this very rare stamp,
being one of two positions that are considered to show this type the best,
possessing exceptionally large and wonderfully well balanced margins which
just barely touch at a couple of points and are almost never encountered on
this stamp, including a portion of the sheet margin at top, bright early
color and a well defined impression which shows the Ty. Ib design
characteristics exceptionally well, light red Boston c.d.s. and black
"Paid" h.s. of that city, miniscule thin specks at top and light vertical
crease, both of which are barely noticeable and do not detract from this
stamp's extremely fine and impressive overall appearance; 1986 and 2006 PF
certificates. (Image) |

used example of this elusive type, featuring four mostly large margins,
barely touched at right, especially deep rich color and a highly detailed
impression on bright paper which helps to show the type characteristics
exceptionally well, light and unobtrusive town c.d.s., very fine; a most
elusive stamp in this choice condition; faintly signed by Stanley Ashbrook
and accompanied by 1984 and 2006 PF certificates.

with mostly clear to large margins all around, bright color and a detailed
impression, cancelled with lightly and centrally struck
"U.S.P.O./Despatch/Pre-Paid/One Cent" double-oval handstamp, very fine;
this handstamp was used as a postmark on covers and for a local carrier
adhesive stamp at Philadelphia, as well as a carrier cancel, though it is
very rarely found used to cancel regular issue stamps; 2005 PSE
certificate. (Image) |

fourth at left just touching the design, two corners with tiny margin
creases, otherwise a very fine and appealing example of this scarce stamp;
