#43c, 5/- Deep grey and yellow, doubly printed
frame, a wonderfully choice mint example of this major Kangaroo rarity,
being from the original discovery strip (in 1915) of four which was
subsequently separated into two pairs and then into four singles, this copy
was the left hand stamp in the discovery strip, the second impression of
the frame appears 8mm below the first and is best seen with an upper frame
line which appears just above the Kangaroo's head, well centered, brilliant
colors, o.g., l.h., very fine and choice; only four mint non-"OS"
examples of this rarity are recorded, all from the original discovery
strip, with one now residing in the Australia Post archival collection;
1977 Royal Philatelic Society certificate for a horizontal pair, this
being the left stamp; ex-Baillie (A$25,000).

frame, an extraordinary used example of this important rarity, quite
well centered, strong fresh colors, portion of "Tumblegum/N.S.W." c.d.s.
positioned such that the doubly printed frame is not obscured, minor
natural horizontal paper wrinkle, very fine; of the five used examples
recorded, two are in the Royal Collection; terribly undercataloged
used, especially when one considers there are just as few used examples
available to collectors as there are mint, which catalog over three times

inverted, bottom right corner margin JBC monogram strip of
three, brilliantly fresh, with gorgeous vibrant colors, each stamp in
the strip with outstanding centering, o.g., right two stamps n.h., hinged
in the selvage and on the monogram single, which also has a vertical gum
crease, overall very fine and striking.Of the mere ten recorded examples
of the 5/- Second Watermark issue with JBC monograms, this is the only
recorded monogram strip (the preferred format for monogram collecting) in
existence. The other known examples are a block of four (housed in the
Royal Collection), four mint pairs (one of which is in the Royal
Collection), three mint singles and one used single.This remarkable
strip also happens to have an inverted watermark which, according to the
ACSC, approximately 20% of the entire printing of the 5/- stamps were
produced with an inverted watermark. One of the great monogram rarities of
