#43b, 5/- Deep grey and yellow, small "OS",
vertical pair, along with a single 6p and three 1/- Second Watermark
issues, all with small "OS" punctures, tied to large part of red parcels
label by huge oval "Chief Parcel Office/Melbourne" datestamp, stamps with
small usage flaws and wrinkles as to be expected, as this parcel was surely
quite large and bulky, a most unusual high value "OS" franking (as used
stamps A$1,065). (Image) |

43b/c |
#43b/c, 5/- Deep grey and yellow, doubly printed
frame, small "OS", wonderfully fresh mint example of this key Kangaroo
rarity, of the mere five examples recorded punctured "OS", this is the
only mint stamp, vibrant colors on bright paper, well centered, o.g.,
barest trace of hinging (if at all), very fine; this example, like the
unpunctured mint example, shows a second impression of the frame
approximately 8mm below the first; an amazing auction event to have not
one, but three, examples of the double frame variety in the same sale,
unpunctured and punctured small "OS" mint copies, as well as an unpunctured
used example (A$31,250). (Image) |
