#45, 5/- Grey and yellow orange, a spectacular

well centered for a multiple of this size, strong colors, some slight
discoloration of the paper, central row of vertical perforations separated
down into second horizontal row, fine overall; a showpiece that likely

45c |
#45c, 5/- Grey and yellow orange, misplaced
kangaroo, a striking mint stamp with the central kangaroo vignette
shifted strongly (approximately 3mm) to top (the ACSC catalog incorrectly
states this is misplaced downwards), deep colors, traces of o.g., some
minor soiling; with the printing of the bicolored kangaroos, there was the
inherit challenge of making sure that the central vignette was never
inverted (none have ever been discovered), as well as making sure that the
vignette was centrally placed within the map of Australia, the printing
officials did an admirable job, as misplaced kangaroos are very rare and
only a handful from all the various watermarked issues exist (A$4,000). (Image) |
