#19, 1c Blue, Ty. Ia, position 100R4, an exciting
used example of one of the most challenging 19th century Untied States
stamps to find in premium quality, as the overwhelming majority are quite
off centered and/or have faults, this particular example is impeccably well
centered, but just as impressive is the deep prooflike color and impression
on bright white paper, an unusually light town cancel further contributes
to the stamp's desirability, an extremely fine gem and an immense rarity in
this outstanding condition; 1971 PF certificate (when on cover), 1998 PF
certificate and a 2004 PSE certificate (XF 90; SMQ $38,500.00); this is,
by far, the highest grade the PSE has assigned to this stamp, being the
sole example to grade XF 90 (the next highest grade is only a 30!). (Image) |
