Sassone #8 |
Sassone #8, 1855 25c Red Brown, an extremely rare mint example possessing original gum, well clear to large margins all around, intense deep color and strong
impression, full original gum that is relatively lightly hinged, faint trace of corner crease at top right mentioned for accuracy but totally irrelevant considering the rarity of this stamp; very fine and attractive; this value is especially rare in
unused condition but with original gum it is of the greatest rarity, so much so that the catalog values of the major catalogs are for stamps without gum, the Sassone catalog notes that only two examples of the Twenty Five Cent Red Brown are known
with original gum, given the long endorsement of this stamp it is presumed that this is the first recorded, the other example is believed to be repaired; an important rarity and a must for anyone building a serious mint collection of Parma;
signed E(milio) Diena, A. Diena and E(nzo) Diena, plus accompanied by clear 1973 Alberto Diena and 1983 Enzo Diena certificates (Scott #8; currently unpriced in Scott even for no gum). (Image) |

Sassone #11d |
Sassone #11d, 1857 40c Blue, Ty. I and Ty. II se-tenant horizontal pair showing the narrow "0" in the left stamp and the wide at right, full large margins all around,
especially fresh and attractive with a central well struck "Parma/11 Ott 58" c.d.s. cancel, very fine and remarkably choice; the two different types of value are found on the same plate and se-tenant pairs are readily available unused, however seldom
were the se-tenant positions used as a pair on covers, thus used pairs are seldom encountered, especially in this select quality and so well documented; signed E(milio) D(iena), A. D(iena) and E(nzo) D(iena), plus accompanied by 1973 Alberto Diena
and 1983 Enzo Diena certificates (Scott #11b; $900.00). (Image) |
