Front & Rear covers (only) of a 150 pg booklet, 8-9/16"
x 5-1/4" titled Catechisme Politique, in Bright Bistre Yellow with
Legislative Assembly oval hs in Blue as well as a previously unrecorded
PAID AT QUEBEC 2d circular rate marking in Red, addressed to the R.C.
Bishop of Bytown, the booklet was sent by Mr. Egan M.P.. It is interesting
to note that the booklet weighed 4.6oz. The rate was 1/2d per 1/2oz, thus
the cover was 1/2d underpaid. An important cover with what is believed to
be a unique rate marking hs. (Image) |

Stampless Cover rated 2d & used as a 1d drop letter in
Quebec, Feb 15, 1854 which was carried by courier to the recipient for the
additional charge of 1d. During this period only a few carrier rate covers
have been recorded, undoubtedly due to the high delivery fee. Most
recipients were apparently willing to wait until they went to town to
pickup their mail. Lovely. (Image) |

rare thus. There is a bit of paper disturbance at Bottom where an
enclosure was apparently affixed but is no longer present. Rare & VF. (Image) |
