STAMPED POSTAL HISTORY
LotNo. Symbol Lot Description
41 ? imageGreat Britain #18. 1d Red Stars (lettered MC), tied by bold strike of a Canadian target cancel & original file fold, to cover from Montreal, April 4, 1856 to Cobourg bs. An extraordinary entire from one solicitor to another regarding the prevention of one John M. Grover from moving to the United States without paying a debt. The GB stamp was fully accepted as having paid the domestic letter rate (3d) as there is no sign of a Postage Due charge. I have seen or never heard of any similar Canadian usage of a GB line engraved stamp used within BNA. Very Rare & undoubtedly unique. A showpiece. (Image) Est.$12500.00

Closed or SOLD for $16,000.00
Closing..Jun-13, 05:00 PM
42 ? image#4ii. 3d Orange Red, with large margins, tied by target cancel to neat cover that was originally rated unpaid 3 with application of the hs. The stamp was subsequently affixed & used from Toronto Sep 4, 1854 to Newmarket. (Image) Est.$350.00

Remarkably nice condition for a multiple of this size & one of two covers that bear a Block of 6 on cover (See lot #104 for the other). One of Canada's great covers. (Image) Est.$25000.00

Closed or SOLD for $16,000.00
Closing..Jun-13, 05:00 PM
44 ? image#8. 1/2d Deep Rose, a lovely vert Strip of 6 with large to huge margins at sides, clear to just touching at T & B, tied by choice 4-Ring 41 (RF8) cancel to Buff cover from Sandwich, UC., July 2, 1858 to Toronto bs via Windsor bs. There is negligible ms docketing partly over the strip at L & a small area of address at B scraped away near a short tear - negligible considering the tremendous eye appeal of this cover. An outstanding & very rare franking for the 3d rate. The nicest example of this franking recorded with a strip of 1/2d stamps. (Image) Est.$5000.00

Closed or SOLD for $4,750.00
