Ottawa, July 3, 1867 to New Brunswick noted Via Portland & with Montreal
July 4 transit on reverse. Small portion of back flap missing, hardly a
matter of concern as this is the unique example of this rare franking to

#20a. 2c Deep Rose (defective), just tied by 4-Ring 25
cancel to very rare cover (small tear at T) addressed to a Soldier from
Oshawa (March 24, 1866 bs) to Port Colborne via St. Catharines(Red bs).
Covers to a Militia Soldier are very rare with only 6 recorded (2 this
franking). Ex: Whitworth & Jephcott. NOTE: A.L.F.S. listing of #5, is
not a Soldiers letter. Also #6 was not dated August as shown but is this
cover which is dated March by the bs.
