London red transit cds and framed 'N.E.2.' in blue at left. A remarkable franking, one of only two known to Cuba. Certificate PAASKESEN. Ex Dr. Gene Scott collection. Scott 12,13,15.

Carta de un soldado francés citando el sitio de Fuenterrabía fechada Au Camp de devant Fonterrabie y dirigida a FRANCIA. Marca manuscrita 'Armeé d' Espagne' y porte de '15' sous. Magnífica y extraordinariamente rara, UNICA CONOCIDA. NOTA: Fuenterrabía fue conquistada por los franceses el 18 de Junio de 1719 y devuleta otra vez a manos españolas el 17 de Febrero de 1720. Manuscrito en negro y marca en rojo PRISIONNIER '516' (n° de registro). Al dorso marca DEB. BAU GAL / ARM. DE PORTUGAL en negro (muy debil) y encima DEB. BAU SEDENTAIRE / ARM. DE PORTUGAL en rojo y manuscrito 'Rebuts de Juin 1812'. Porte de '6' decimas. La carta no encontro al destinatario y se le estampo el Debourse de la Armee de Portugal de donde dependia Ciudad Rodrigo e indico la razon 'Prisionero'. La carta finalmente se envio al Bureau Sedentaire quien la conservó unos meses antes de devolverla a Paris. Pieza excepcional y UNICA CONOCIDA. Se trata probablemente de la pieza mas importante de los Ejercitos Franceses en España. (Image) CLOSED

Dunkirk arrival cds of the following day on reverse of a very rare cover: most bisects, whilst rare, are found used to make the new postage rate (introduced Sept 1, 1870) of 25 centimes, rather than being used on a local cover such as this.
