Port-Au-Prince" Crowned Circle. Well-struck red handstamp on 1881 cover
to Paris, France, bold "Port-Au-Prince D AP 9 81" datestamp, London and
receiving backstamps, red ms. rate at top left, slightly reduced and cover
torn at top left, otherwise Very Fine, rare, the last example we offered
realized $2,800 hammer in our Sale 863

octagonal targets, red "G.P.O. Ex Calcutta JA. 3, 1861" double-circle
datestamp on back of blue folded letter to Boston, bold strike of red boxed
"India Paid" handstamp, London transit, "Boston Am. Pkt. Feb. 20" receiving
datestamp with matching "5" due marking, stamps barely affected from
placement near edge of cover, 1a affected by vertical file fold, some

(22). Four pairs, large margins to clear, tied by "Firenze 21 Mar.
1863" datestamps on cover to New York, red Cherbourg transit, red "N. York
Am. Pkt. Paid Apr. 11" datestamp, endorsed "via Svizerra" at
topVERY FINE. A SUPERB AND VERY RARE FRANKING FOR THE FRENCH MAIL
RATE FROM ITALY TO THE UNITED STATES. The use of eight 15c stamps to
prepay the French Mail rate is extremely unusual.

15c 1869 and Bank Note issues, foreign frankings incl. multicolor Roman
States, better stampless incl. 1858 San Francisco to Locarno with Swiss
Consulate handstamp, 1866 Allan Line from Switzerland to U.S. with N.Y.
depreciated currency datestamp, 1846 N.Y. to Sicily via Britain and
Austria, many different lines represented, stampless in excellent
condition, stamped covers have minor faults, a colorful and scarce group
with copious notes regarding routes and rates, almost all covers in the
$100 to $150 value range |

datestamp on blue folded letter to New York, route instructions at bottom
indicates sent via Cuba, bold "Steamship 10" in circle handstamp, faint
vertical file folds well away from stamp, Very Fine and rare, very few
Lanman & Kemp covers were franked with stamps
