Trans-Pacific and U.S.-China Mails. 97 covers on annotated exhibit
pages in four albums, first volume contains 26 1841-64 covers between U.S.
and China/Philippines via transatlantic mails, incl. "Paid at Hong Kong"
crown-circle, ship letters, British and American packets, Hong Kong
forwarder handstamps, British P.O. "Hong Kong" and "Shanghae" datestamps,
other volumes contain later 19th and early 20th Century covers to/from
Hawaii and Australasia via transpacific lines with U.S. and foreign stamp
frankings (some postal cards), some slightly stained or small faults,
generally presentable, many extremely scarce covers and overall an
impressive study of these routes with extensive analysis and background
information, the early covers have individual values of $200 to $300 each,
many $100+ covers among the later covers |
