A FINE AND SPECTACULAR 3-CENT 1851 ISSUE AND EAGLE CARRIER COMBINATION FOR THE CINCINNATI CARRIER FEE AND TRANSATLANTIC POSTAGE. WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE GREATEST 1851 ISSUE CARRIER COVERS.

Our records of Eagle Carrier covers contain eleven usages to foreign countries, including Canada (one cover from Philadelphia with 1c and 3c 1851 Issue, ex Meyersburg), Denmark (half-cover from Cincinnati with 3c 1851 Issue, ex Meyersburg), England (four from Philadelphia, from a correspondence discovered in 2000, one of which has eight 3c 1851 stamps and another has a pair of 12c 1851), France (two covers from Cincinnati, both ex Ezra D. This cover has a 3c credit marking corresponding to American Packet service to England under the U.S.-British postal treaty. It was probably carried by the Havre Line's Fulton, which departed New York on Apr. 5, 1856, and arrived at Southampton on Apr. 19.
