San Francisco Apr. 13" blue oval datestamp, addressed to H. B. Shaw in Alfred Me., 3c 1869 pays additional postage for double rate

1057 c image3c Ultramarine (114). Tied by segmented cork cancel, "San Francisco Cal. Apr. 8" circular datestamp, also tied by "Wells, Fargo & Co. Express, San Bernadino" oval handstamp struck twice on front and once on back of buff cover to Placerville Cal., Very Fine and extremely rare, carried by express from San Bernadino to San Francisco where it entered the mails to Placerville, the use of the 3c stamp instead of an embossed entire was illegal, with 1979 P.F. certificate (Image) E. 750-1,000
