well-struck "Yslas Marianas * Gobierno PM*" oval handstamp on registered
cover to Manila, Philippines, purple "Philippines Registered Dec. 11, 1899"
double-circle backstamp, also "Mil. Sta. No. 1 Manila, Philippines Rec'd.
Dec. 11 4:30 PM 1899" backstamp, purple signature handstamp on back,
vertical file fold well clear of stamps, stamps with some toning mostly
around edges from gumVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE REGISTERED COVER
WITH THE 6-CENT MARIANA ISLANDS ISSUE. THE RAREST DENOMINATION OF THE
SERIES, IT IS SELDOM FOUND ON COVER. ONLY 50 WERE PRINTED. With 1939
A.P.S. certificate signed by Bartels and Klemann. Signed Bloch. Scott
Retail for the off-cover 6c is $3,750.
