25, 1879" double-circle datestamp on cover to Hamburg, Germany,
second strike below, London and receiving backstamps, red crayon "1-1/2"
rating applied in England also ties stamp, parts of address erased, some
edgewearFINE AND RARE. THE EARLIEST RECORDED USAGE OF THE
ONE-SHILLING SAMOA EXPRESS ISSUE AND A RARE SINGLE FRANKING OF THE
ONE-SHILLING SAMOA EXPRESS STAMP ON A COVER TO GERMANY. The published
rate to Germany (via Sydney) was 1sh. Illustrated and discussed on pp.
78-79 of the Odenweller book. With 1960 Friedl certificate. Signed Bloch.
