(39). Tied 3-ring target cancel, "Honolulu H.I. Nov. 15" circular
datestamp on 1884 5c Blue entire (U4) to San Francisco, perfect strike of
purple "Late Letter Mail" double-circle dateless handstamp (Ty. 759,
Rarity 1RRRR), backstamped "Forwarded by J.M. Oat, Jr. & Co.,
Stationers & News Dealers, Honolulu, H.I." four-line handstamp in
purple (Gregory AUXFWDR-JMOAT, Rarity 1RRRR), magenta "San Francisco
Paid All Nov. 22" receiving datestamp, stamp has trivial perf tip toning
and corner crease, Very Fine, a wonderful combination of the rare "Late
Letter Mail" handstamp and J. M. Oat forwarder marking (of which Gregory
reports only two examples), ex Fitzpatrick

double-circle datestamp (unlisted in Meyer-Harris, Gregory Rarity
1RRR) on Mrs. Thomas Lack corner card cover to Copenhagen N.Y., magenta
"San Francisco Paid All Oct. 3" transit and Carthage receiving backstamps,
minor edge toning and wear, still Very Fine and extremely rare, the extra
5c was required for Late Letter Mail, ex Fitzpatrick (Image) |
