Bold part strike of purple "Hoopuloa, Hawaii, Jan. 14, 1900"
double-line circular datestamp (Ty. 255.01, Rarity 1R), most of town
name visible, faint toning, Fine, Gregory reports "Burns rated this a 3,
dropping it from the 4 given by Davey/Bash. I have seen very few strikes
and propose it as a 1R. I have three strikes."

Honolulu with 1864 2c Rose Vermilion (31) cancelled by blue "Paid"
double-line oval (Ty. 760) and postmarked on arrival with "Honolulu
Hawaiian-Islands Mar. 10" circular datestamp (circa 1868), slightly reduced
at left, Very Fine, this is the earliest reported postmark from Kawaihae,
the initials belong to W. F. Conway, postmaster from 1864 to 1868 -- the
Gregory list shows this as the reporting example

datestamp, gum residue over imprint indicates missing stamp, slightly
reduced at left, otherwise Very Fine, scarce

lettPO-25), "Post Office, Kawaihae, H.I. Jan. 28, 1880" circular
datestamp (Ty. 238.02, Scarcity 2) on cover to Kohala, stamp has minor
toning, otherwise Very Fine, this "PO" target is attributed to Honolulu but
clearly it was applied to this cover on the Big Island and must have been
distributed to other post offices
