Very Fine, a rare example of an early 7-Star Confederate Flag patriotic
with a U.S. stamp used from Tennessee within days of the secession
referendum (the popular vote was cast on June 8)

24th" -- Day of Tennessee Secession Ratification. Ms. postmark,
matching pen strokes cancelling strip of three U.S. 1c Blue, Ty. V
(24), s.e. at right, on gray lithographed Tusculum College,
Greeneville, East Tenn. cover to Kingston Tenn., docketing ties strip
and confirms 1861 year date, Very Fine, the May 6th Ordinance of Secession
was passed by popular vote on June 8th, subject to ratification by the
Tennessee General Assembly on June 24th -- this is the key date on which
Tennessee was legally and officially an Independent State -- rare and
especially desirable with a 1c 1857 strip and college advertisement, ex
