blue "Pendleton S.C. Mar. 18" (1862) circular datestamp on brown
red, green and grayish blue floral wallpaper cover to Pickens C.H.
S.C., corner folded over for displayFRESH AND EXTREMELY FINE. THE
5-CENT GREEN LITHOGRAPH, THE FIRST GENERAL ISSUE OF THE CONFEDERACY, IS
VERY RARE ON WALLPAPER COVERS, WHICH DID NOT BEGIN TO SEE WIDESPREAD USE
UNTIL LATE IN 1862. THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST OF ALL WALLPAPER ADVERSITY
USAGES. Ex Brown, Lehman, Haas and Birkinbine (our Sale 795, where
this cover realized $5,750 hammer).
