502 c image1970 (July 13) cover to "Director of Naval Reserves/.../Canberra" with QEII 5c blue solo tied by Dandenong (Vic) machine cancel paying the domestic letter rate and very fine complete strike of the 'PRIORITY PAID TESTARTICLE/...A NEW SYSTEM FOR HANDLING URGENT INTERSTATE MAIL' boxed handstamp in violet alongside. The Priority Paid service was introduced on 20.7.1970; it replaced the more limited Special Despatch service which operated only between capital city CBD offices]

503 c image1970 commercial cover to Hobart with 40c Tasman tied by 'COLLINS ST___/ 4 /15DE70/VIC-AUST' cds ('C.1' removed), most unusually with Priority Paid and Messenger Delivery labels at upper-left. The rate was 5c letter plus 25c Messenger Delivery & 10c Priority fees = 40c. A very scarce usage.

504 PSE image1970 social usage of 10c Aerogramme uprated with QEII 2c & 3c (both very scarce on non-philatelic mail) and 50c William Dampier tied by 'CASTLE HILL/22DE70/NSW-AUST' cds with red and blue lines for registration & express services and white/red 'OVERSEAS/EXPRESS/DELIVERY' label on the face, to Switzerland with '4090 BASEL 2/25.12.70/PAKETAUSGABE' (= Parcel Counter) arrival backstamp on Christmas Day, one flap re-attached. An exceptional usage: registered aerogrammes are very scarce & this is the only example we have seen with two enhanced services. The aerogramme rate was 10c plus 30c registration & 25c express delivery fees = 65c. [NB: the sender lived at Dural, 1km SE of Round Corner, where the item was registered, but the stamps were cancelled at Castle Hill, a more prominent PO 5km SSW of Round Corner]

508 long cover image1975 (April 2) registered airmail to Austria with Navigators $4 King solo franking tied by 'BANKSTOWN/NSW-AUST' cds, blue/white R label alongside, no arrival markings. The Zone 5 airmail letter rate was 35c per 10g up to 50g x5 plus 35c per additional 20g x2 plus $1 registration (with a 15c convenience overpayment). This is only the fourth $4 King cover that we have recorded (as opposed to use on unaddressed parcel tags), and the only solo in-period franking known to us. An apparently overpaid item with Navigators $1 & $4 sold at our auction of 28.2.2023 for $900.

509 c image1975 (June 26) Greetings from Cairns NQ illustrated multi-coloured tourist envelope (Marlin fishing) to Victoria with Education 11c Correspondence Schools solo franking tied by 'CAIRNS/10/QLD-4870' cds, minor blemishes mostly from bulky contents. The rate was 11c for a domestic non-standard article up to 50g. By comparison, the standard letter rate was 10c up to 500g (subject to a maximum thickness of 5mm, which this item apparently exceeded).
