565 PSE imagePOSTAL STATIONERY: Registration Envelopes with 1911-12 combination frankings group including to "Finland, Russia" with Tasmania 2d Pictorial added, blank red-orange R label with 'Walcha' cachet in blue and 'KUOPIO' arrival backstamp, the others from Sydney with Queensland, Victoria & Western Australia stamps added to New Zealand or Germany plus one used locally to Tingha NSW, variety of different formats & stocks including one 'THREE PENCE' on 4d overprint, four with TH Nicolle return address cachets & two with Fred Hagen 'wafer' labels (one partly removed), condition mostly fine to very fine. The interchangeable use of Australian States stamps (and postal stationery) was permitted from 13.10.1910.  (9)

580 P image1882-95 Large Chalons £1 perforated colour trial/plate proof in brown-purple on thick watermarked gummed paper, marginal example from the top of the sheet, full unmounted original gum. Very scarce.  Ex Bernie Manning - sold at our auction of 13.6.2009 for $975 and 'Dubois' (I): sold for SFr415. [Arthur Basset Hull at page 160 states that this was a colour trial made in March 1897, apparently for a proposed change of colour: see Alan Griffiths 'Stamp Magazine' (May 1992)]
