Alsace and Lorraine, two entires, one 1871 from Strasbourg to Besancon bearing Occupation 20c ultramarine (#N6), small repair at right, in combination with France 1871 Ceres 25c blue (#58) tied by framed "Strassburg i. Els. / Bahnhof" d.s. and T.P.O. diamond h.s. respectively, and an 1872 entire from Strassbourg to Paris bearing German Empire small eagle 2gr (#5) singles (2) in combination with France 1863-70 Laureated 10c bister (#32) and 1871 Ceres 25c blue (#58), the two French stamps have creases or small spike holes, cancelled by "Strassburg / in Elsass" and blue "Paris / Etranger" c.d.s. respectively, a nice appearing pair of covers illustrating the use of the Occupation and their successor German Empire stamps.
