EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A FANTASTIC 1855 10-CENT TYPE II IMPERFORATE, DISPLAYING AN ENORMOUS STRADDLE-PANE SHEET MARGIN AND NEW YORK OCEAN MAIL DATESTAMP.

The New York Ocean Mail grid was typically used on mail bagged for contract mail steamers departing from New York to Panama and other points south. (Image)
