2483 c Chicago Postal History -- The Elijah K. and Thomas Hubbard Correspondence. 42 folded letters from Nov. 1, 1834, to Nov. 9, 1836, the postal markings are routine, but the content is extraordinary, the earlier letters are written by Elijah K. Hubbard, a major real estate investor and developer in Chicago during the 1830's, the correspondence documents significant real estate purchases and sales in early Chicago, one dated Aug. 13, 1835, with hand-drawn map of Blocks 65 and 66, many with comments about the growth of "our town", condition is uniformly Very Fine, a remarkable correspondence worth careful reading E. 4,000-5,000
