A RARE COMBINATION PAIR OF THE ONE-CENT 1851 FROM PLATE ONE EARLY, INCLUDING TYPE Ib, SCOTT 5A, AND THE "DESIGN COMPLETE AT TOP" VARIETY OF TYPE II, POSITION 10R1E.
The Type Ib from Position 9R1E has a Scott value of $8,500.00. The rare Type II from Position 10R1E, which has the complete design at top, has a Scott value of $2,000.00 as a used single (vs. $170.00 for a normal Scott 7). The combination Type Ib-II pair is valued at $13,000.00, which presumably does not include the premium for 10R1E.
With 2006 A.P.S. certificate. (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT TYPE IA IMPERFORATE.
The extremely rare Type Ia, showing the full design at bottom, was furnished only by 18 of the 200 subjects on Plate 4 (the remaining two bottom-row positions were sub-type Ic).
With 1991 P.F. certificate. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED USED EXAMPLE OF THE IMPERFORATE 1851 ONE-CENT TYPE II FROM PLATE ONE EARLY. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE VIVID RED CANCEL.
With 2001 P.F. and 2003 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98 Jumbo, SMQ $2,400.00 as 98, unpriced in 100 grade). Eight Scott No. 7's (1c Type II imperforate) have achieved the P.S.E. grade of Superb 98 or better, but the P.S.E. Population Report does not break down the 1c 1851's by plate. We are quite sure that the more desirable and scarcer Plate 1E stamps are much rarer in high grades than their Type II counterparts from other plates. (Image)
VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE 1851 IMPERFORATE ONE-CENT TYPE III WITH A BLUE TOWN CANCELLATION.
With 1975 P.F. certificate for a combination strip of three (this is the righthand stamp, Type III). Ex Roland Anderson as the strip. (Image) (imagea) (imageb)
