VERY FINE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE CHICAGO ZOUAVE PATRIOC COVER TO FINLAND, ROUTED THROUGH THE CHICAGO EXCHANGE OFFICE.
The majority of mail to Europe was processed at either the New York or Boston exchange offices. This cover to Finland was marked and rated at the Chicago exchange office, in itself a very scarce usage. Combined with the destination and use of a patriotic envelope, this cover is truly remarkable.

VERY FINE. REPORTED TO BE THE ONLY EXAMPLE OF A PATRIOTIC COVER USED AS A TRANSATLANTIC WRAPPER SENT BY PRUSSIAN CLOSED MAIL.
The two 3c stamps pay the 6c newspaper rate via Prussian Closed Mail. Ex Myers. With 2004 P.F. certificate stating this was used as a wrapper. (Image)
VERY FINE. A RARE "ANGELL" PATRIOTIC COVER WITH THE 12-CENT 1857 ISSUE, ADDRESSED TO BELGIUM AND FORWARDED TO GERMANY.
A review of the Matthies holding of Angell patriotics found only three covers bearing stamps solely from the 1857 Issue. In addition, this is the only cover addressed to either Belgium or Frankfort.

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE MAGNUS PATRIOTIC COVER TO AUSTRIA PAYING THE 15-CENT RATE VIA BREMEN-HAMBURG MAILS. FROM THE ANGELL CORRESPONDENCE.
This Magnus design in metallic bronze is extremely rare in any usage.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE STRIP OF THREE OF THE 5-CENT BROWN 1861 ISSUE ON A PATRIOTIC COVER FROM HOLLAND, MICHIGAN, TO HOLLAND IN EUROPE. ESPECIALLY RARE TRANSIT VIA DETROIT EXCHANGE OFFICE.
The 18c in postage was apparently accepted as prepayment of the 21c rate via American or British Open Mail. The use of a patriotic envelope to the Netherlands via the Detroit exchange office is most unusual.
Ex Myers. Signed Ashbrook and with 2004 P.F. certificate (Image)
