3295		2c Green (3). Vertical strip of three, large margins to in incl. sheet margin at bottom, tied by blue "Columbus S.C. Jun. 21" circular datestamp, endorsed "Please put in drop mail H.L.", center stamp tiny toned spot not mentioned on accompanying certificate FINE. A SCARCE RATE AND USAGE OF THE 2-CENT JACKSON, REPRESENTING A ONE-CENT OVERPAYMENT. Any reference to "drop mail" on covers is unusual, but this Confederate usage is exceedingly rare. 3297		5c Blue, Stone 2 (4). Full to large margins all around, tied by blue "Petersburg Va. May 4" circular datestamp on blue folded cover to Mrs. H. Ashton Ramsay, in care of D'Arcy Paul, a local resident of Petersburgh, pencil notation "Written on Ram Virginia", Very Fine, the Virginia was also known as the Merrimac, in March 1862 she engaged the Union's Monitor in an epic naval battle, this cover was postmarked one week before the Virginia was blown up by Confederate authorities to avoid capture (Image)	E. 400-500 SOLD for $550.00 Will close during Public Auction

May 29" (1862) circular datestamp on blue folded cover to Bladen Springs Ala., enclosure is a letter from one young man to another, written on lady's embossed stationery, the feminine touch was not lost on the writer, who quips "You see what a strait I am put for paper and this is my last and only sheet. No doubt you would prize it highly as a billet doux if it came from a certain young lady...", Extremely Fine, a choice General Issue cover with an adversity flavor (Image)	E. 400-500 SOLD for $600.00 Will close during Public Auction
