letter to Boston, stamp with several margin nicks and faint creasing FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF ONLY TWO EXAMPLES KNOWN AND THE ONLY ON-COVER EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 3-CENT TYPE III WITH DOUBLE IMPRESSION. A review of the Philatelic Foundation
records and Power Search located only this example and the one in the previous lot as genuine double impressions. There are a couple of additional stamps that have been certified as partial "kiss impressions", which typically show doubling of a small
