29f, g, ha, i, ja |
#29f, g, ha, i, ja, 9p Violet, Die II substitution
for Die IIB units, a remarkable complete left pane of 60 from Plate 4,
which shows conclusively that indeed Die II cliches were substituted within
the sheet (normally Die IIB) in positions 3, 4, 9, 10 and 48, none of these
positions show the top frame break over "ST" of "AUSTRALIA" characteristic
of Die IIB stamps, clearly being Die II substitutions previously suggested
but not proven until demonstrated by this sheet, rich color, o.g. which is
just slightly aged toned in a few spots (not seen on face), n.h., light
horizontal crease in third row, sheet neatly and carefully folded along a
couple of horizontal rows for ease of exhibition, overall fine; an
important and rare sheet for the kangaroo specialist (for the five hinged
se-tenant Die II/Die IIB pairs and 52 never hinged Die IIB stamps
A$6,700+). (Image) |
