1482 ogc U290 image#U290, 2c Brown on blue, die 82, size 6, knife 19, wmk. 6, attractive mint entire of this rare envelope with "Strauss, Blumenthal & Co." corner card, stamp imprint with bright color, very fine; interestingly, as rare and elusive as this envelope is, it comes with no imprint, vertical "If not delivered within 10 days, to be returned to" imprint and this corner card, this example is the first corner card envelope of this very difficult issue that we have offered (UPSS #857). 1484 og U308 image#U308, 2c Green on blue, Q an enormously rare mint cut square, measuring 43x45mm, exceptionally fresh, extremely fine ; UPSS census records that there are only two mint cut squares (we are aware of at least one more) and no mint entires reported of this rarity and most of the great cut square collections such as of Dr. J. Paul Wampler, Larry Lyons or Dr. Jerry Summers had no mint example, the only previous example that we have offered came from the "Michigan" Collection and was again sold in the Floyd collection and measured a mere 32x36mm; the example offered here may be the finest example in existence. 1493 ogc U349 var. image#U349 var., 2c Columbian, die 95C, size 8, knife 38, wmk. 11, mint entire of this extraordinarily rare size, very slight overall paper aging, attractive and very fine; only a very few of the over 35 different 2c Columbians envelopes have substantial premium, most are unusual watermark varieties, on the other hand this is an exceptionally rare size, and actually the 1c, 2c and 5c were issued in this size 8, all of which are major postal stationery rarities; this is the first 2c example we have ever offered and a key item for a specialized collection of the Columbian envelopes (UPSS #1154).
