Shreves Philatelic Galleries, Inc. Sale - 77

The April 2006 Collector's Series Sale - April 4-5, 2006

Shreves April 2006 Collector's Series Sale is filled with an exceptional range of highly desirable United States, British North America and Worldwide postage stamps and postal history. As always, several name collections highlight this particularly valuable and comprehensive sale of nearly 1,400 lots.

The United States portion of the auction contains hundreds of premium quality mint and used U.S. stamps - the vast majority with certificates - exactly the kind of material serious collectors have come to expect to see in a Shreves auction. The Thomas N. Lange Collection fills the auction with an impressive offering of all never hinged stamps – many of which are seldom found as such.

A comprehensive collection of United States plate number blocks is also featured in the auction – sold by order of the John M. Beard Trust. Plus, there is a fascinating specialized offering of the One Cent Franklin stamp from the 1902-03 Regular Issue series, all from the gold-medal collection formed by Douglas Uzakewicz.

The Worldwide offerings in the auction come primarily from two important consignments. The first being an East Coast Gentleman’s Collection of Canadian and Provinces stamps in unusually choice condition – virtually all of which are accompanied by certificates. The philatelic estate of Fritz O. Sommer contributes a wealth of exciting and eclectic worldwide material to the auction – particularly in the desirable and valuable large lots and collections found at the end of the auction.
